Heart Disease Prevention & Rehabilitation

Comprehensive Heart Care

A heart attack is not an isolated incident. Heredity, lifestyle, stress, and other medical conditions can all be contributing factors. At MarinHealth, we believe in preventive medicine, to keep heart disease from developing or progressing. We also want to keep our patients who are recovering from heart and vascular events and procedures on the right track, with rehabilitation and counseling. We have a variety of programs in place to achieve both of those goals.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Center

Technically, the first phase of Cardiac Rehabilitation begins while the patient is still recovering from a coronary event and receiving care at the Haynes Cardiovascular Institute at MarinHealth Medical Center. Phases II and III are offered on an outpatient basis, at our Cardiac Rehabilitation Center, conveniently located right next to the Medical Center.

Integrative Wellness Center

Our Integrative Wellness Center offers therapeutic massage, nutritional counseling, psychosocial services, holistic treatments, and relaxation techniques, on both an in- and outpatient basis.

Smoking Cessation

Tobacco use is the single most preventable cause of disease and premature death in America. As a smoker, giving up tobacco is the most important thing you can do for your health and the well-being of your family. You understand that you need to quit smoking, but aren't sure how to begin or what effects this will have on your body. Our smoking cessation class can be used to help you through the next steps in beginning your life, smoke-free.

South Asian Heart Center

Did you know that South Asians—people who trace their ancestry to India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka—have four times more risk of heart disease, compared to the rest of the population? What’s more, South Asians tend to have heart attacks at a younger age, with 30 percent more fatalities.

MarinHealth collaborates with El Camino Health's breakthrough South Asian Heart Center to screen South Asians, educate them about their risk of heart disease, and work with them to develop more heart-healthy lifestyles, right here in Marin.

Women's Heart Health

When it comes to women’s heart disease, all of us at the Haynes Cardiovascular Institute believe that lack of awareness of risk factors is a risk in itself. This is why we formed the Women’s Heart Health Program, the first program in the North Bay dedicated to the prevention and early identification of heart health concerns for women. Led by Dr. Ines Sherifi, the program includes a personalized care pathway for female patients with timely access to care.
