Pregnancy & Childbirth

We’re Here to Make Every Birth A Special Delivery

As Marin’s only hospital resource for labor and delivery, we’ve been welcoming babies since 1952. MarinHealth offers parents-to-be an incredible array of expertise and services that make planning, delivering, and caring for your baby a personalized and exceptional experience.

In fall of 2020, we relocated maternity services to our new Oak Pavilion in a beautifully appointed state-of-the-art space that’s specially designed to enhance your safety, security, and comfort.

Virtual Maternity Tour

For the protection of our expectant parent, mothers and fathers to be, and new families, in-person tours of our facilities have been temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If your family is planning on delivering at MarinHealth Medical Center, we encourage you to take a virtual tour of our facilities:

Classes & Events

For the protection of expectant mothers and fathers, our pregnancy and childbirth classes and support groups have been moved to a virtual (online) environment. View a list of our 2020 classes, or view a list of our 2021 classes.

A Collaborative Team of Experts

Our maternity care team is the result of a thoughtful collaboration between obstetricians (OB/GYNs), midwives, and other childbirth professionals on your care team.

We understand that your baby’s birth is an intensely personal experience, and we want to empower you to choose the type of delivery you prefer. MarinHealth is one of the few systems in Marin and San Francisco Counties to offer both midwives and OB/GYNs for prenatal care and delivery, and we have both on site at the Medical Center 24/7. Midwives and Physicians are licensed, highly regulated healthcare providers, but their skill sets and philosophies are a little different. To ensure the best possible care for all infants, our interdisciplinary team meets twice a day to discuss every tiny patient. No matter which you choose, you’re in excellent hands and you can count on wonderful pregnancy care, maternity care, and support after delivery.

  • Obstetricians
Our obstetrician/gynecologists (OB/GYN) are seasoned experts who guide you every step of the way from prenatal care through delivery.
  • Certified Nurse-Midwives
For those who prefer to work with a midwife, we offer that option as well. Certified nurse-midwives are registered nurses with a master's degree in nursing or public health. They are certified through the American College of Nurse-Midwives, working in conjunction with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
  • UCSF Perinatologists and Neonatologists
High-risk pregnancies are stressful enough without having to leave Marin for treatment. That’s why we have UCSF Health experts on site to help moms bring high-risk pregnancies to term and to care for newborns with special health issues. In addition, pregnant women with type 1, type 2, or gestational diabetes can get special advice and supervision from our Braden Diabetes Center.
  • Hospital Care Team
Maternity Care at MarinHealth Medical Center, including anesthesia, pediatrics, specialized nursing care, and advanced perinatology, is available around-the-clock. We always have an OR and surgical team ready for emergency cesareans in one of our two new C-section procedure rooms. Our nursing team is comprised of dedicated obstetric and neonatal nurses, specially trained in support of both natural childbirth and high-risk deliveries.
