Stress Management Tips

As stress levels are approaching all-time highs, here are some concrete tips for staying resilient for you and your teams:

  • Stay present as much as possible: Avoid future-focused scenarios, especially in areas you have no control over
  • Find ways to unpack difficult emotions: Keep in contact with people who support you
  • Practice self-care: Stick to your routines and prioritize eating well, exercising and getting sound sleep
  • Take time for self-reflection: Practice mindfulness exercises, meditation, or journaling to debrief, so you can process all that is going on. Don't forget to self-coach. Be kind to yourself and remember that, “I'm doing the best I can”
  • Participate in peer support groups: Talk with colleagues or join hosted conversations to connect with others; share concerns and process all that is (see offerings below)

Basic Needs

  • Free Meals for Providers: MarinHealth has been working with our local community to provide free meals to our healthcare workers. Please check the Greenbrae Grill for donated food that is available to all staff as a grab-n-go. In addition, non-perishable items are placed in the physician lounge (across from the Grill). Lastly, the Creekside Cafe is providing free meals to all physicians.
  • Emergency Housing: Off-site housing is available for both physicians and staff. If you would like to pursue this, please contact the Employee and Physician Testing and Screening Center at: 1-415-925-7909.
  • Marin County Emergency PopUp Childcare Program: Marin County has launched an emergency pop-up childcare program to support healthcare workers, public safety first responders, and active disaster service workers working or living in Marin while classroom instruction has been suspended in our community
  • Prepared Food Delivery: Several community members, restaurants, and prepared food providers have contacted MarinHealth to support our healthcare workers with nourishing food. Noelle Jue, Director of Planned Giving for MarinHealth Foundation, is coordinating these efforts and is working with us to extend offerings to some of our outpatient clinics and staff. If you would like to request food for your department, or have someone who would like to donate, please email Noelle.
