High-Risk Pregnancy Care
A Special Collaboration with UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital
Some pregnancies are high risk from the beginning. Others go smoothly until a sudden complication occurs. Newborns may be born too soon, or have other medical issues. That’s why MarinHealth Medical Center forged a special collaboration with UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital to provide Marin’s mothers and babies with access to the expertise and resources of one of the nation’s preeminent pediatric hospitals.
About the Program
UCSF Health perinatologists work closely with MarinHealth Labor and Delivery staff, and are available 24/7 for consultation. MarinHealth patients are seen at an outpatient multispecialty practice in Marin where UCSF maternal-fetal medicine specialists offer state-of-the-art ultrasound examinations, consultations for high-risk maternal medical issues, co-management of fetal concerns such as twin gestations, prematurity prevention efforts and support and management of unexpected pregnancy complications. Genetic counselors are also available and work closely with MarinHealth patients for prenatal genetic screening and diagnosis.
Dividing their time between UCSF and MarinHealth, these experts monitor mother and baby throughout a high-risk pregnancy. In addition, pregnant women with types 1, 2, or gestational diabetes can get special advice and supervision from our Braden Diabetes Center.
