Two New Members Appointed to Marin General Hospital Board of Directors

GREENBRAE, CA — The Marin General Hospital Board of Directors announced today the appointment of Walter Rose, founding partner of Venture Consulting Corp., and Ching-Hua Wang, dean of the School of Health and Natural Sciences at Dominican University of California (DUC), as the two newest members of the hospital board approved by the Marin Healthcare District Board. Mr. Rose was approved by the District Board on May 12 and Dr. Wang on June 9.

Primarily composed of volunteers from the community, the Marin General HospitalBoard of Directors is responsible for the hospital’s day-to-day operations, including patient care, budget oversight, physician credentialing, staffing, and administration of the facility based on the needs of the Marin community.

Since 1988, Mr. Rose has held multiple positions in not-for-profit leadership. In addition to his role on the Marin General HospitalBoard of Directors, he is currently a Director of the Ralph M. Parsons Foundation and Board Member of Aspiranet, a social service agency that supports at-risk youth. Previously, Mr. Rose served as Co-Chairman of the Board at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and headed their successful $500 million Living Proof Capital Campaign.

Apart from his work in the not-for-profit sector, Mr. Rose has held executive positions for McKinsey & Co, an international management consulting firm, and Medtronic, Inc. a medical device manufacturer. He was the Founding Partner of the private equity firm, McBain, Rose Partners, and served as a Trustee of McMorgan Mutual Funds.  He is currently working with EBT, Inc., a Marin based startup firm that uses advanced technology to address emotional health problems.

He received his M.B.A. from Stanford University and hold a B.A. in economics from Yale University.

Dr. Wang has long been involved in the development and management of various academic programs and facilities. In her role at DUC, she serves on the president’s cabinet, dean’s council, academic executive council, faculty affairs committee and faculty compensation committee.

Dr. Wang was one of the founding faculty members to start California State University, Channel Islands (CSUCI). She served at the office of the provost at CSUCI, where she assisted with the development of academic and collaborative programs, managed $6M of institutional grants and established partnerships with business and community leaders as well as international educational institutions on behalf of the university.

Among her accomplishments, while serving DUC and CSUCI, Dr. Wang was responsible for developing a Master of Science in Physician Assistant program and launching undergraduate programs in Health Science and Public Health and a Master of Science in Clinical Lab Science program. Working closely with the advancement team, $500,000 was raised to support the purchase of equipment for the nursing simulation labs at DUC and $205,000 for scholarships. At CSUCI, she was responsible for raising $1.7M for scientific equipment and supplies and $13M of grants for programmatic development and research.

Dr. Wang earned her Ph.D. in immunology from Cornell University and an M.S. in immunology from Beijing University as well as an M.D. in medicine from Capital University of Medical Sciences.

Dr. Wang brings vast educational health care experience,” said Mara Perez, Hospital Board secretary and chair of the Board’s nominating committee. “I look forward to seeing their positive impact in sparking continued growth and success benefitting the community.”
