Hunter Bohlen, MD,MBA
Hunter Bohlen, MD, MBA, is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at UCSF, where he leads a new orthopedic trauma service based at Marin General Hospital. He specializes in the treatment of traumatic injuries involving the extremities, hip, and pelvis.
Dr. Bohlen specializes in the surgical management of periarticular fractures, including injuries of the elbow, shoulder, hip, and pelvis/acetabulum. He treats a broad range of traumatic orthopedic injuries, with particular expertise in fixation biomechanics. His approach emphasizes individualized treatment to restore function and support recovery after fracture.
Dr. Bohlen is committed to surgical education and has been actively involved in resident and medical student training throughout his career. As chief resident at UC Irvine, he developed and facilitated an anatomy training program for residents and medical students and was honored as Resident Educator of the Year. He continues to teach residents and fellows in fracture surgery.
Dr. Bohlen's research is focused on translational clinical work in hip and pelvic fractures, including innovative approaches to the treatment of geriatric femoral neck fractures. His recent work has also focused on improving our understanding of tibial plateau anatomy.Dr. Bohlen looks forward to seeing patients at MarinHealth Orthopedic Care in San Rafael and Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital.
