Cheryl Negrin, NP
Cheryl Negrin, NP grew up in San Francisco during the 50’s and 60’s. She has been active in Women’s Health services since 1968. Cheryl volunteered at the Haight Free Clinic and Planned Parenthood and became a trained reproductive health counselor and drug counselor. She remained committed volunteering while attending John Adams Galileo to become an LVN. Cheryl went on to become and RN in 1983 and had her first daughter that year as well.
Cheryl came to Petaluma in 1983 and began volunteering for Hospice. A year later, she started working at Petaluma Valley Hospital. Cheryl worked most of the years at the facility in their Birth Center. After 20 years she changed course a bit and became a Family Nurse Practitioner. While training, Cheryl became aware along with others in the community that many of the services and facilities did not address the underserved. In 1994 she was part of a team that opened a free clinic that ran for 10 years, a vaccine clinic, a school-based health center and a teen clinic at a local teen hang-out. Many of these services got absorbed into other clinics and they continue to be provided to this day. Cheryl continues to volunteer at the Phoenix Teen Center. She has been honored with grants that enable her to create an atmosphere of belonging, independence and pride.
Cheryl was blessed with 3 daughters, all nurses, as well as the ability to adopt a young girl who is now a psychotherapist helping others. She is now the proud grandmother of ten grand children.
