GREENBRAE, CA — Marin General Hospital, an independent provider of health care services in Marin County, has been named to the list of 2015 Healthiest Employers, an awards program presented by the San Francisco Business Times and Silicon Valley Business Journal. Winners of the awards program were recognized on Thursday, September 3.

The hospital ranked seventh among 35 organizations in its category honored for their commitment to employee health, with exceptional corporate wellness programming.

“We are honored to be recognized for our ongoing commitment to provide resources and programs for our hospital team and to support outstanding health and wellness in our workplace,” said Tori Murray, Director of Wellness Services. “We are devoted to offering employees the tools they need to encourage healthy lifestyles in and outside of the workplace.”

Award applicants were evaluated across six key categories: Wellness Program, Culture and Leadership, Strategic Planning, Communication and Marketing, Foundational Components and Programming and Interventions. Completed assessments were ranked with the proprietary Healthiest Employer Index, a 1-100 metric for wellness programming.

Marin General Hospital’s “Wellness @ Work” program promotes healthier lifestyles for hospital employees by offering a variety of services, such as onsite activities including free weekly yoga classes, group wellness walks, meditation sessions and chair massages, as well as multiple vouchers and discounts for fitness centers and health screenings.

“The time and health of our employees are important to the culture of our organization,” said Jon Friedenberg, Chief Administrative Officer. “Our hospital wellness programs allow us to extend a helpful hand in support of the healthy habits that contribute to the positive wellbeing of our employees.”

The awards program, administered by Healthiest Employers LLC., surveys Bay Area organizations in four separate categories based on company size, ranging from 25 to more than 2,000 employees.
