Marin General Hospital Receives Accreditation for Quality Cardiovascular Care

GREENBRAE, CA — Marin General Hospital, an independent not for profit community hospital in Marin County, was granted a three-year accreditation in Echocardiography by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC). The IAC recognizes facilities providing quality patient care in compliance with national standards.

The hospital earned approval for its Echocardiography in the areas of Adult Transesophageal, Adult Transthoracic and Adult Stress.

“We are delighted to receive this seal of approval recognizing the work done to make sure our cardiovascular patients receive quality care that adheres to the highest standards,” said Joel Sklar, MD, Chief Medical Officer and Cardiologist. “Echocardiography procedures play a vital role in the early detection of heart disorders, allowing us to identify and treat potentially life-threatening health issues faster and with high levels of efficiency.”

In addition to the hospital receiving accreditation, all of Marin General Hospital’s outpatient sites in Greenbrae and Novato have already received IAC certification recognizing their quality of care.

IAC accreditation indicates a facility has been carefully critiqued by medical experts in the field of Echocardiography on various aspects of its operations. Accreditation helps patients identify facilities they can rely on for quality cardiac care.

To receive IAC accreditation, Marin General Hospital underwent a thorough application process including detailed case study review by a panel of experts observing operational and technical components.

Widely respected within the medical community, accreditation is supported by the national medical societies related to Echocardiography, which include physicians and sonographers.

Echocardiography accreditation is required in some states and regions by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and by a number of private insurers.
