Women and Cardiometabolic Health - How Cardiovascular Disease and Diabetes Interact to Affect Overall Health

About This Event

You’re Invited… Join us at our next Community Health Seminar Series where we will discuss Women and Cardiometabolic Health.

Heart disease is the number one cause of death for women in the United States, accounting for 1 in 5 deaths in US women. Cardiometabolic risk factors also increase the likelihood of experiencing vascular events or developing diabetes.

In this presentation, Dr. Gaudiani and Dr. Szady will:

  • Discuss the chronic conditions that disproportionately impact women.
  • Explain the link between certain chronic conditions and women’s cardiometabolic risk.
  • Describe what steps to take to screen for, diagnose, and manage chronic conditions in women.

Dr. Szady will address how cardiovascular disease affects women, the risk factors women should be aware of, and ways for women to improve heart health.

Dr. Gaudiani will address endocrine issues specific to women such as hormonal development, gestational diabetes, stressors, courses of treatment, methods of prevention, and whether diabetes presents uniquely in women.
